Service Description

In the inspiring setting of Crafty Happenings, get into the Christmas spirit by designing, carving and printing your own Robins. Use them as gifts, to frame, or to turn into Christmas cards! This fun and friendly workshop is an ideal starter session for beginners, as well as those with some prior experience. During the workshop you will: - explore the basic principles of lino printing - familiarise yourself with the equipment ,materials & terminology used in printmaking. - experiment with carving, cutting, inking and printing lino - learn how to create a basic jigsaw Lino print in two colours - develop a suitable Robin design to print in two colours. - print a set of cards using the skills you have learnt - explore ways to further embellish these cards if required - take home your finished prints to turn into cards or frame! Our designs for this workshop will be based on Robins. You will receive an email with some further ideas ahead of the workshop, but please bring along any photos, sketches, or existing Christmas cards that you would like to use as inspiration. This a saturday session, running from 10am until 2pm and is suitable for 16 + or 14 if accompanied by an adult. The cost of the course includes all materials. Places are limited to 7 participants to ensure that all members have plenty of 1:1 tuition and guidance on the day. You will be with a very experienced Tutor - I spent 17 years teaching Art and Design in FE colleges. Drinks and seasonal light refreshments will be served. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch if you require something more substantial. Please stipulate if you have any dietary requirements when booking. We will be using printing inks which may stain clothing. Please wear old clothes and bring an apron! There is free on road parking on Windsor Avenue , close to the venue.
