FREE Lino printing taster session

Ever wondered whether you might enjoy Lino printing? Curious about what it entails? Come and join me for the FREE taster session. Over the course of two hours, you will explore: - the materials and equipment required to create your very own one colour Lino print - the basic principles and terminology of printmaking - test out your mark-marking and carving skills - discover what makes a good design for this method of printing - create your own first lino small print edition on paper - Take your prints home with you - ready to hang immediately! Our designs for this workshop will be abstract and geometric, based on the cut glass crystal the Red House Cone, our host venue, is famous for. We will look at how to create different line thicknesses, and suggest light and dark, using negative and positive shapes, through lino cutting techniques. you ar welcome to bring along any photos, sketches, digital images, or actual glass that you would like to use for inspiration. There will also be some materials in the workshops you can use for inspiration on the day. Our course runs from 11pm to 1pm and is suitable for 16 + (14+ if accompanied by an adult) This workshop is aimed at people who have NEVER lino printed before and are curious to have a go. Many thanks to Red House Glass Cone, Ruskin Glass Centre, and funding from Government UKSPF to allow this free event, which is part of Stourbridge Open Studios 2026. We will be using printing inks which may stain clothing. Please wear old clothes and bring an apron! Although this event is free - places are limited. Pre - booking is essential.
