Lino print your own Christmas cards

Service Description

In the inspiring setting of the Redhouse Glass Cone, this full day course will allow you to: - explore the basic principles of lino printing - familiarise yourself with the equipment ,materials & terminology used in printmaking. - experiment with carving, cutting, inking and printing your lino - develop a suitable simple Christmas card design based on your experiments - print a set of 6 cards using the skills you have learnt - explore ways to further embellish these cards if required - take home your finished cards and envelopes ready to write and post! Our designs for this workshop will be based on decorative Christmas imagery. Think snowflake patterns, Christmas plants such as holly, ivy, mistletoe and other berries, Christmas trees, baubles and stars. You will receive an email with some ideas for inspiration ahead of the workshop, but please bring along any photos, sketches, digital images, or existing Christmas cards that you would like to use as inspiration. There will also be an 'inspiration table' in the workshop itself in case you are stuck! Our course runs from 11 am to 3.30 pm and is suitable for 16 + This workshop is aimed at beginner lino printers and those with some previous experience. The cost of the course includes all materials. Places are limited to 6 participants to ensure that all members have plenty of 1:1 tuition and guidance on the day. You will be with a very experienced Tutor - I spent 17 years teaching Art and Design in FE colleges. Tea and coffee, squash and herbal tea will be available throughout the day. There will also be homemade cake. You will need to bring a packed lunch, please note that there is currently no cafe on site. Please stipulate if you have any dietary requirements when booking. We will take 30 - 40 mins for lunch, to allow some time to explore the venue, the other craft studios on site, the gift shop and museum. We will be using printing inks which may stain clothing. Please wear old clothes and bring an apron! There is free parking on the car park on Bridge street, directly opposite the Redhouse Glass Cone.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel, please contact me within 7 days of the date of the workshop you have booked to attend. Due to room booking costs and other overheads, late cancellations will only receive a 50% refund. You may be able to reschedule, providing I have an other upcoming workshop which would be suitable.
